Hook Weaving 1
Rugs produced by using a hook to draw yarn or strips of fabric through another fabric, usually canvas or burlap that has been mounted on a frame. The resulting surface is looped and may be clipped for a tufted or pile surface. Making hooked rugs is a domestic craft of English-speaking countries. The earliest hooked rugs are from about 1840. Hooked rugs are also made in China and India and are similar in structure to those of America and England.
