This Baluch Rug is made from 100% Natural Wool.
Baluch Persian rugs are hand-woven by the people of the nomadic Baluchi tribes in the provinces of Sistan, Baluchistan and Khotassan. Many are sold in Mashad, a key Persian rug center.

Baluch rugs usually feature an overall pattern or a prayer-rug design. The main color scheme is a rich burgundy and very dark navy blue with beige accents.
The province of Baluchistan is home to the ancient Burnt City, which dates back at least 4000 years. Nomadic Baluch tribes live in the region in distinctive black tents as they have for centuries. They are isolated from modern society. The Baluch people use the rugs that they weave as insulation for their tent-homes and insurance against hard times. They use the asymmetrical Persian knot and can take months to weave. The knots are tightly packed resulting in rugs that are very durable. The warp and wefts of Baluch rugs are made of strongly-spun cotton or goat hair and the pile is woven of vegetable-dyed wool. The rugs' colors are consistent and over time a soft and subtle patina emerges.
